Quitting Smoking!

There will always be a reason not to quit smoking in a smoker’s mind but a person will have to make a decision right then and there to quit and then they will have to stick with their plans. One of the main problems that will have to be overcome is the addiction to smoking.  The addiction to nicotine will certainly need to be broken. Maybe smokers like the rush of just lighting up that cigarette, the feeling of calmness it gives to them. It seems to relieve the stress and tension that builds up in us at times. If you are someone who wants to quit smoking here are a few tips which may assist you with your choice. Choose a particular day to quit smoking. Make a list including all the reasons that you think you should quit smoking cigarettes. Then think of all the reasons why you think that you like smoking cigarettes.  In this list be sure to enter when you generally find your self smoking, where you smoke at usually, and why you want to do it. By doing this you will be able to understand why you may start craving a cigarette again and perhaps you can plan on what to do to substitute for that cigarette.  Consider also how you will handle people who try to get you to start smoking again. Let friends know that you are kicking the habit. Make them aware that you would appreciate their help and tolerance. Avoid them when they are smoking and if they can’t appreciate your situation, you may have to avoid them completely while you are recovering.

When you do actually quit smoking, you will see your list of reasons to smoke grow shorter and your list of reasons not smoke get longer. When you’ve quit smoking be sure to reward yourself for a job well done.
